Welcome and Mabuhay
We have created this website for family and friends to read about and share experiences of and with Dad during his earthly life, and to keep you posted on the final adventure he has left behind for us: bringing his remains back to the United States, and making sure that his memorial, in all ways, befits a man who was an outstanding father and husband, a talented and inspiring US Navy Chief, a warm kupare and friend to all, and a generous and reliable member of his communities in San Diego and the Philippines.
On October 22, 2010, our father, Vicente Redondo Rodriguez III, departed this life, to surely bring new adventures and escapades for our mother and all of our family’s beloved deceased in the hereafter.
This past August, Dad underwent an angioplasty in Manila, to open up an artery that had become blocked since his first major heart attack in 2001. After a brief hospital stay, he undertook a pilgrimage back to his birthplace of Naga City, Philippines, for this year’s Tercentenary Festival of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, the Patroness of the Bicol Province. Shortly after returning to Valenzuela (where he built and managed a medical clinic after my mother’s death, and spent his springs and summers), he suffered an upper-respiratory infection. His certificate of death reports that Dad's passing was due to "cardiopulmonary arrest, probably secondary to acute myocardial infarction."
We are devastated. But, we are grateful that Dad fought so passionately to stay a part of our lives for so long after his first heart attack—and for much longer than most expected after our mom’s passing. That they are together again brings us some consolation, as does our confidence in the fact that dad’s probably already entertaining and charming the angels with his warm smile, fascinating stories, and infectious laugh :)
Thank you for the support and prayers you have offered us and our family,
Evelyn and Vicky
